Contributing to a Sustainable World

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations are an ambitious set of goals developed with the idea of ‘Leaving no one behind.’

Cohizon Life Sciences integrates these multi-stakeholder goals into our operations and philanthropic efforts. Guided by our ‘CARES’ philosophy, we are dedicated to achieving the SDGs

Conserving natural resources

In a resource-scarce world that is increasingly vulnerable to climate change, sustainability has emerged as the way forward and a critical business imperative. We at Cohizon are committed to using a science-based approach to sustainably achieve our business performance goals

We continuously work towards improving energy efficiency across operational locations and enhancing the proportion of renewable energy sources in the total energy mix.

Cohizon is committed to sustainability by minimizing reliance on conventional energy sources and lowering its carbon footprint, aligning with its broader environmental goals by use of significant renewable power sourcing.

Energy management is critical to the natural capital agenda at Cohizon. Energy consumption is one of the largest sources of GHG emissions. Our energy management strategy involves the following:

  • Improving energy efficiency across our operations through awareness and monitoring.
  • Adopting new technology.
  • Implementing measures to retire inefficient software and equipment.
  • Enhancing the proportion of renewable sources in the total energy consumption mix.

As a chemical manufacturing company, water is a critical resource for our operations. We recognize the importance of water conservation and sustainable use, both for our business and for the communities and ecosystems that depend on this vital resource.

Water management strategy to minimize our water consumption and reduce environmental impact, we have implemented a comprehensive water management program based on the 4R approach — Recover, Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse.

Effective waste management is essential to maintaining a safe and sustainable operation. To ensure this, we prioritize responsible waste management and the safe handling of hazardous substances. We have implemented a robust waste management system, including both offsite and onsite emergency plans, to minimize risk and ensure safety across all perations.

Cohizon has consistently scaled up our waste management practices by reducing generation quantities and directing waste to Govt. authorised Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities (TSDF). We are increasing the share of recycling and co-processing to minimize the waste disposed of in landfills.

We continuously identify opportunities across the value chain to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle for waste management.

One of the unintended results of production is that the waste generated can find its way back into the environment. We remain committed to sustainable management of our post-consumer plastic waste through various stakeholder partnerships and mechanisms for converting waste to value as per Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR).

Global warming is causing long-lasting changes in our ecosystems. By 2030, an estimated ~1 billion people globally will be affected by the aggravated and triggered climate change. Climate change impacts various health outcomes, such as cardiovascular illnesses, waterborne diseases, and infectious and contagious diseases.

Climate change also poses a business risk to operations and physical assets.

Yet, it also presents an opportunity for the chemicals sector to rise responsibly to the health challenge by supplying speciality chemicals that are affordable and available.

At Cohizon, we monitor and analyse our environmental performance robustly.

Use of clean fuels

Cohizon’s board has approved a significant renewable power sourcing contract of approximately 6.5 MW to reduce its Scope 2 emissions. This initiative is estimated to generate 28.7 million kWh of clean energy, leading to a substantial reduction of approximately 20,000 tCO2e in greenhouse gas emissions.

This strategic move demonstrates Cohizon Life Sciences commitment to sustainability by minimizing reliance on conventional energy sources and lowering its carbon footprint, aligning with its broader environmental goals.
